Mr. Marcus E. Bishop was born and raised mostly in Kansas. He received his bachelor’s degree in both vocal and instrumental music education from Fort Hays State University in 1983. In 1998, he was the first Kansas candidate to receive his Master of Science in Arts and Letters from the American Band College in Ashland, Oregon. Marcus is in his twenty eighth year of public school instrumental music teaching. He taught band and choir in the St. Francis school district from 1983-1985. He taught band and choir in the Goodland school district from 1985-1987 and continuing as a band director through 1991.

Mr. Bishop has been director of bands for the past nineteen years at Kennedy Middle School in Hays, Kansas and now at Felten Middle School as well. He is the percussion/woodwind specialist for the beginner bands and plays his trombone in community events. He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Kansas Music Educators Association, Kansas Bandmasters Association and the Christian Educators Association International.

Mr. Bishop has a wonderful support system from his wife Janna, and four adult children, Tanner, Bryce, Hanna and Mary. He is also the proud grandfather of Luke Lane Bishop born January 1, 2010!
