8th Grade Band

The 8th graders are our school leaders and have improved a lot over the past two years! They will join the 7th grade band for fall marching performances at the Kansas State Fair and our three local school homecoming parades. They will perform with all Kennedy musicians at a winter concert in December. They will work on a combined Felten/Kennedy 8th grade performance at the Hays Music Festival on March 8 at Hays High School. The combined 8th grade band is planning to travel to the Worlds of Fun Music Festival on May 2, 2009 for a festival performance and recreation. The eighth grade students will perform the "Star Spangled Banner" at their 8th Grade Promotion Night ceremonies, then combine with all Kennedy musicians for a final performance of the year at the FHSU Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center on May 11th, 2009.
Our goal is that all students will develop an attitude of excellence in all they do. As instrumentalists, we want to improve our playing every day! Teachers will test according to the format explained in class. Chair order may change with each playing test according to the student's score. Formal challenges for chairs may be scheduled with Mr. Bishop. Challenge material will be over concert music and other pre-assigned materials.
